Text Box: Draft John Kerry for President in 2008

Text Box: A personal plea for intelligent leadership

Text Box: An open letter to fellow United States Voters:
Are you happy with the announced candidates for the 2008 presidential election?  I’m not.
More than one candidate has critical experience gaps that — in the real world — would disqualify them from holding the job.  Why should we believe that the lack of experience is suddenly a virtue?  19th century presidents aside, the modern world’s complexity requires someone who really knows what they’re doing.  Particularly in the foreign policy front.
Some candidates will so obviously say and do ANYTHING to win that it is hard to trust them.  Even if it means repackaging others’ past proposals or work and taking credit for it.  Or using revisionist history to portray their past actions and positions in a misleading (lying) way.
And even candidates’ spouses have gotten into the act.  One spouse reportedly plays the heavy with contributors, strongly suggesting they not support any other candidates.  And another tries so hard to portray the candidate as a ‘common man’, when publicly available facts indicate otherwise.
And that’s just some of the announced Democrats!
Which makes me long to have another option.  An intelligent, eloquent, and experienced candidate, who really listens and wants to make fact-based decisions.  One who really cares about the future of the country — and the people in it.  One who is prepared to make the tough decisions for the future — on critical domestic issues of healthcare, energy, the environment, Social Security, and the deficit.  One who is willing to root out corruption and government waste.  And equally importantly, one who understands the geopolitical environment, security, and the importance of engagement with the international community.  One who understands — by firsthand experience — the first step in protecting our troops is to use them wisely, to equip them to do their job as safely and effectively as possible, to bring them home when their job is done, and to take care of them once they're back.  And finally, one who we can TRUST to tell the truth, and not be beholden to extremists of any stripe.
Where can we find such a person?  We have the perfect presidential candidate  — John Kerry.  Who has, to my dismay, chosen not to participate in the presidential campaign circus this time around.
Please join me in asking Senator Kerry to reconsider his decision.  It’s in our best interest, even if it is NOT in his!  I encourage you to join me in sending a message to Senator Kerry - help draft John Kerry into the 2008 presidential election!  For my sake and yours — and for America’s sake too!
